Grist for the Mill

Owow, the mail lady brought me the most lovely squishy yesterday!  Tammy gave away a bundle of 30's repros and I won! Look how luscious:

So much possibility!  I'll need to fondle them awhile before committing to anything.  I've been wanting to do sashed tumblers for quite some time; but wouldn't storm at sea be great in repros?  Wait, how about ..... this is my favorite part of quilting, tossing around all those ideas. And new playthings keep one's mind off how the kids have yet another day off from school, whether the garage roof will hold during this latest storm, whether the porch roof will hold .... say, isn't it about time for that rodent to predict the rest of my winter?

edited to add:  I do find it deeply ironic that several of Connecticut's skating rinks are closed due to weather conditions ...

Yay, a Fabric Win!

So, like lots of other bloggy folks out there yesterday, I spent a good deal of time bopping around enjoying I'm a Ginger Monkey's Great International Stash Busting Giveaway. Some of them were really fun, including the one who asked us to talk about what thoughts Canada brings to mind. I told this little tale about going to Ottawa for Independence Day a million years ago with my friend and her family. I can still picture the streets and buildings (well, as they were then), but the image that still leaps to mind is the lovely mounted policeman who identified the obviously-wildly-popular pop star singing on the big stage; apparently we were the only folks in the universe who didn't know Rene Simard and his dulcet tones. The cop was shocked, amazed, a little confused, and finally disappointed - just silly Americans. We watched all of those things flit across his face in a few seconds. Lovely man.

Anyhow, the wonderfully generous Andrea was the one who asked the question and the one who pulled my name from the proverbial hat! She is giving me a gorgeous bundle of Earthy fabrics! Ain't she grand?
