Quilt Festival 2009

I've only had three finishes so I'm going to take the first as my selection. I made this as part of the Old Red Barn Co's first quiltalong (they're gearing up for Round 4!). I would not have chosen this layout on my own, or even selected these fabrics were it not that they seemed to go well with this layout, but boy am I glad I did.

It's obviously the work of an amateur, with wonky quilting and a few squares that don't match up perfectly and it doesn't match my living room, but we use it all the time and it's mine and I love it. I honestly don't know how we've lived without a quilt in the house for this long; we have a few old afghans but they aren't anywhere near as satisfying.

  1. We're all amateurs! ;) I love how your quilt has a real "fibre arts" look to it. It looks very textural - so neat!

  6. It's a beautiful quilt. The first quilt I made was a similar rail fence pattern, but in red, white and blue for my son. The quilt I call my own has flaws, doesn't match, but I love it so I know what you mean. Thanks for sharing.
