KaffeLand: Pandora Flora

Was I the only one who kept thinking about Kaffe Fassett while watching “Avatar?” There are several fabulous scenes of the landscape on Pandora, during one of which I leaned over and whispered to the girlchild, “It’s like walking through Kaffe Fasset Land!” Mr. Fassett, your next line is RIGHT. THERE. Waiting for you in the forests and rivers of Pandora.

I found it incredibly difficult to glean screenshots online – loads of stills of the avatars, the indigenous Navi and the army guys and the machines and a few of the terrific creatures, but shamefully few of the fabulous landscape and flora created for the film. This was one of the most visually stunning films I’ve ever seen, due in large part to the plant life represented.  The story line is nothing new, trite even, but the visuals are so grand that they make you forgive everything.

  1. Haven't seen the movie, but from the photos, I can see what you mean.
